JOSH on JOSH

My work spans audio reporting, feature writing and short-form video, with a particular focus on bringing on-the-ground perspectives into fast-moving international stories. Additionally, I regularly produce interview segments and source guests across difficult environments and time zones.

I gravitate towards stories about people navigating the intended and unintended consequences of policy decisions.

In addition to bylines in The World, my reporting can also be found in The Boston Globe, Notes from Poland, The GroundTruth Project and the New England Center for Investigative Reporting.

At The GroundTruth Project (now Report Local), I worked as an editor and engagement coordinator, mentoring international fellows and helping to grow audiences across podcasts, newsletters and social media.

I hold a joint Master’s degree in Journalism, Media and Globalization from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and Aarhus University.

When I’m not reporting, I teach practical audio reporting at the Danish School for Media and Journalism (DMJX) and serve on the Erasmus Mundus Journalism Advisory Board. I’m also an accredited member of the Foreign Press Association in Denmark.

In addition to English, I speak fluent German, French rouillé, and I’m in the middle of learning Danish.
